10 Months

Wow!  It is amazing how quickly 10 months has gone by.  Before we know it Dutch will be a year old.

Well this little guy here:

Oops!  That is actually my not-so-little guy.

Yeah, that's the one.  He is more fun than we could ever have imagined.  He is learning so many new things everyday its hard to keep up.  But I'm going to try to get some of them down here.

Dutch has become a master mess maker.  He is certainly keeping me on my toes.




But he is also a big help around the house.  I mean look at his amazing laundry skills.


And he is a great help to Daddy when in comes to tuning the guitar.


He has also become very interested in the world around him.  We constantly have squirrels hanging out on the window.  Dutch has gotten to know what they are and will point and say "ooh"


He has made a new super fun (to him anyway) game of untying Daddy's shoelaces.


And there is no mountain that is too big for him to conquer!


 Here a few of Dutch's FAVORITE things:

1.  This kid is an avid reader. If I would sit and read to him all day long he would have the best day of his life...seriously. He will go to his book box, pull out a book, hand it to you and say "bbboo." If you don't instantly take it he either freaks out and cries or puts it in your lap and waits until you take the hint.



2.  Water.  Bathtime, a kiddy pool, a ski lake, a big pool.  Doesn't matter, he'll splash around and have a ball.


3.  Playing "Where's Dutch?"  He will lean back behind something to hide and then pop out and laugh hysterically.


4.  His new wagon.  We have not tested it out on the street yet, but he has really loved cruising around the house.


Now for the things I don't have pictures of.
He has figured out how to stack his colored rings on the pole, he can put a ball/block/anything else in hand in the middle of a ring.

He has lots of words that he uses.  "Ba" means ball, "Bbbla" means block", "Uh uh uh uh oh" means "Uh oh" :)

He can feed himself finger foods and drink from his straw cup with no help. 

And last, but certainly not least, when Dan gets home he crawls into the kitchen and yells "Dada!"

Dutch's 4th Birthday Party

For Dutch's birthday we decided to go to San Angelo and visit with Dan's family.  We had a great time! I think Dutch had a good time too, he definitely enjoyed his birthday party. We arrived Thursday evening with a couple of HUNGRY little boys.  After we got them fed they played for a bit and then it was time for bed.  On Friday we just hung out around the house and prepared for his birthday on Saturday.  We did go out for dinner to Catfish Corner though...YUM!  I, of course, did not have catfish.  I usually get their chicken strips which are really good, but this time I went with a cheeseburger and it was really good too.  Everyone else had their catfish and said it was delicious.  Dan decided to do one over on them.  He ordered the 'All You Can Eat' plate, but he refused to fill up on the sides, he went full on with the catfish.  I think he stuffed down about 12 pieces! Unexpected Adventure

We went to hang out in the river at the Berry's house after nap time.  They have a great spot that is only a few inches deep, is covered in smooth rocks, and the water flows nicely.  The boys really like it there, especially when they are allowed to throw rocks. While we were there a few weeks ago the wind picked up.  I handed Baker to Dan so I could get out of the water.  The wind made Baker cold and he was clinging to Dan so tight!  They made their way back to the car while I got Dutch out of the water.  By the time Dutch and I got to the car Baker was sitting in the open trunk wearing Dan's shirt. Once we go the boys dried off a bit we got into the car.  Soon the rain started.  We had so much fun sitting in the car watching the rain! It was a wonderfully unexpected adventure.

On the Train!

Dutch and I went for our first train ride today.  We had a blast!  Dutch loved every minute of it, he was all wide eyes and smiles.  He named all the train cars we saw (he chose names from his How to Train a Train book).  Our train car was named Nathan.  Santa made an appearance about half way through the two hour trip.  A little while later Mrs. Claus gave us some yummy sugar cookies.  It was an awesome day and I'm so glad I was able to share it with Dutch! {We've got our tickets, now we have to wait to board the train} {Dutch got very cold while we waited} {Finally, we are on the train} {They read us a story about the train ride} {Santa!} {Santa gave him a train whistle, all the kids were blowing them on the train} {Mrs. Claus is handing out cookies} {We are on our way back to the station}
