The Miller Memories

I went for my 28 week check up last week and all is looking good.  Baker is very active and had a good strong heartbeat.  We also got the c-section date picked so by this time 10 weeks from today he will be here!  We are set to go in on May 21st , hoping to get the 7:30AM time slot.  If we do then we should be in the room resting (somewhat) comfortably by noon. What if I go into labor?  I had the same question.  The Dr said that they will be monitoring me and if it looks like I'm going into labor then we do the c-section.  She said that doesn't happen too often though. We have a lot to get done before now and then and I'm sure that it will be here before we know it.  I can't wait to see him though!!

We had our 20 week sonogram yesterday afternoon and Baby Boy Miller is looking healthy!  We are very excited that Dutch is going to have a little brother to grow up with and we can't wait to meet our cute little guy! He kept 'guarding' his face with his hands, so it was hard to get a good profile shot.  Everytime we got near him he would punch the sonogram tool (and me). Sweet little feet!  

Well, we changed our mind and decided not to try option 2 from the earlier post, we've gone straight to the C-Section.  So tomorrow is the big day!  We have to be at the hospital by 2p for check in and then the Cesarean is at 4:30p.  Needless to say, we are EXCITED and a little nervous.  Dan's been working super hard this weekend cleaning the house and getting Dutch's room ready to go.  It still need some decorating, but other than that its all done.  We still owe you some pictures of the master bedroom, but I'll let Dan upload those.

We had a sonogram today and learned that Dutch is about 6.5 lbs right now and is a healthy growing boy.  We also learned that he already takes after his Mom and Dad, in that he is stubborn.  He has refused to turn head down on his own.  He's in what is called "Frank Breech" position, meaning his little tush is down and his head and feet are up by my ribs.  We have a couple of options to address the issue. 1.  We do nothing and schedule a cesarean for sometime next week. 2.  We attempt to do a External Cephalic Version (EVC), which is flipping him around so his head is down. Even though the Dr said that he doesn't think Dutch will flip, we decided to at least try option 2.  We'll go into the hospital later this week, they'll give me a low key relaxant, and then give it a try.  If he flips around, and stays there, then that's that.  We just wait until I go into labor and try for the natural birth like we've been planning.  If he ...

Well, we had our first third trimester check up this week.  Dutch's heartrate is right on target and I don't have gestational diabetes (yay!).  They're keeping an eye on my blood pressure, but all my bloodwork is coming back great so that's good news.  All in all as we enter the 7th month we're doing great.

Well the weeks are flying by and little Dutch will be here before we know it. We are now in week 27, the last week of month 6 and the last week of the second trimester. I'm still feeling pretty good, but I know before too much longer I'm going to have swollen feet and sleepless nights. To counteract the inevitable we decided to have a lazy weekend... While Dan was relaxing in his recliner on Saturday we heard a strange sound outside, upon inspection we found that a limb had broken out of one of our trees in the front yard. Luckily it did not hit anything on its way down, but it was blocking some of the road. Dan busted out the chainsaw and with the help of the neighbors made quick work of clearing it out. Once that was done, I felt like snapping some shots of the the pretty purple flowers that we've seen popping up. We spent the rest of Saturday watching a movie and planning a killer junk food night.  Sunday it finally stopped raining so we decided to venture out of...

Well Dutch is getting stronger and he wants us to know it! He was going crazy last night. For about a 1/2 hour he was kicking around so much that you could see Dan's hand move on my belly. It was really cool. I'm sure I won't be saying that when he starts keeping me up at night with his antics, but right now its great!

Might as well let the cat out of the bag right in the title of the post. We went to the much anticipated 20-week sonogram today. It turned out that determing the baby's gender is one of the easiest tasks on the the list. They did a pretty thorough "20-point" inspection checking the baby's brain, heart, physical features, and overall size. We were assured that everything is A-OK. The video of the sonogram is posted below. By the end of the session the little guy was squirming around a fair bit. We must have woken him from his nap (which he was taking with his keister pointed toward the sky and his feet dangling over his head). Looked like he had his hands clasped behind his head too, but that may have just been my imagination. Try to ignore the watermark across the screen. It's just a consequence of using a free video format converter.

Well despite a hectic work day, our latest check up went well. The baby's heartbeat was going strong, about 150 bpm. For a second there Dan and I both thought there were 2 heartbeats, but that was just our untrained ears. Only 24 days until the sonogram! Let the countdown begin.
