The Miller Memories

We've been home since Thursday and Dutch is now 1 week and 1 day old.  We had his first Dr appt on Friday and he had gained back 3oz of his lost birth weight (Yay!).  Since we've been home Dutch has had a few visitors. Aunt Debra was kind enough to give Mommy a burping break. Did I mention that Uncle Billy brought Dutch his first fishing pole? And Cami just couldn't get enough of little Dutch. Dutch has been very comfortable sleeping in the recieving blanket Grandma made.  He's even started looking looking like a frog himself.   

Well, it has been almost 48 hours since we first greeted Dutch.  During that time Dutch's activities have included fine dining at his favorite fast-food hangout (Mom) where he has been getting all colostrum (which will contribute to superman-like immunity), getting diapers changed, and watching Mom and Dad watch him (don't those two have anything better to do than just stand there looking at me all day?).  Yesterday around noon the doctor performed the circumcision which, instead of putting him in a bad mood, had the alternate effect of - "I'm going to just sleep the rest of the day and won't be interested in eating until I get over the trauma."  Mom and Dad found this quite disconcerting, but Dutch finally came around about 6:30 PM, got back into the swing of eating, and has been going strong since then. We are hoping to be heading home around midday tomorrow (Thursday) and Dad is planning on avoiding the crazy drivers on IH-35 through Austin and will take ...

Here are a few before and after photos of the master bedroom/bathroom since I finally got it finished up.  We moved in last week (just in the nick of time).

Dutch is finally here.  He was born at 5:21 PM and weighed in at 7 lbs & 11 oz.  He's 19.5 inches long and was ready to eat right away (he is not challenged in this area).  Sorry it took so long to get pictures up, but things got busy right away and stayed that way for a while.  Just got him swaddled up nice and warm after a feeding and he and Capri are getting a little rest.  I'm going to need some practice with this swaddling thing as it is hard to keep his arms and legs at rest long enough to get him properly wrapped and he's surprisingly strong.  I'll try to get some more pictures posted in the morning.

Well, we changed our mind and decided not to try option 2 from the earlier post, we've gone straight to the C-Section.  So tomorrow is the big day!  We have to be at the hospital by 2p for check in and then the Cesarean is at 4:30p.  Needless to say, we are EXCITED and a little nervous.  Dan's been working super hard this weekend cleaning the house and getting Dutch's room ready to go.  It still need some decorating, but other than that its all done.  We still owe you some pictures of the master bedroom, but I'll let Dan upload those.

We had a sonogram today and learned that Dutch is about 6.5 lbs right now and is a healthy growing boy.  We also learned that he already takes after his Mom and Dad, in that he is stubborn.  He has refused to turn head down on his own.  He's in what is called "Frank Breech" position, meaning his little tush is down and his head and feet are up by my ribs.  We have a couple of options to address the issue. 1.  We do nothing and schedule a cesarean for sometime next week. 2.  We attempt to do a External Cephalic Version (EVC), which is flipping him around so his head is down. Even though the Dr said that he doesn't think Dutch will flip, we decided to at least try option 2.  We'll go into the hospital later this week, they'll give me a low key relaxant, and then give it a try.  If he flips around, and stays there, then that's that.  We just wait until I go into labor and try for the natural birth like we've been planning.  If he ...
