Baker's First Haircut (11/05/2013)

Image
Baker's hair was getting pretty long, and while Dan and I liked it we thought it might be getting a bit shabby looking.  We didn't think that Baker would sit still for Dan to cut it so we decided to let him go somewhere else.  I just took him to Supercuts and he did a great job.  He looks so different now though.  I just keep staring at him and I think he is starting to think I'm a little crazy. Here are some before shots from the last few days. And here is one from lunch today...he looks so different. I miss his long hair. (And pardon the busted lip, he likes to injure himself.) Here are a couple of in process shots.  And yes I did keep one of his ringlets.

Halloween (10/31/2013)

We were glad that we got to follow through with our Halloween plans, it was iffy during the flood part of the day.  But the boys got to dress up and go play games at the Fall Festival at First Baptist Church - San Marcos and they had a blast! Baker was a Circus Strongman Dutch was Robin Hood We didn't stay at the festival for trunk-or-treating because they had everybody waiting in a LONGGGG line, but Dutch was really looking forward to saying "Trick-or-Treat" and getting candy.  Needless to say, we improvised and did it at our bedroom door.  Dutch was still happy because he got his long awaited candy!

Fall Festival...Kind of (10/19/2013)

I heard on BOB FM that there was a Fall Festival (all free) going on at a garden store here in San Marcos.  We decided to check it out. The boys liked walking around the plants the trees best, but they also enjoyed the mini petting zoo.

Carving Pumpkin (10/21/2013)

Image
When we were at the garden store in San Marcos for their Fall Festival and picked up a couple of pumpkins.  Dutch picked out his little one (he likes the little pumpkins best) and Dan and I picked out a big one for carving. I was in charge of scooping and carving. While I did that, Baker colored. And Dutch painted his pumpkin. The final product was nothing special, just a simple smile.  Sorry I forgot to take a picture of it before it rotted.  Dutch's painted pumpkin was quite good though!

Flood of 2013, Post 2

So here is the quick rundown of what went on at our house.  I woke up to tend to Dutch at about 6:15am, I knew that it had rained overnight so I looked out the back door just because.  I thought the yard looked weird so I got the flashlight and saw that the river was up.  It wasn't crazy up, but definitely higher than it had been in a while.  (The picture below is an old photo, I'm using it to show where the water was at 6:20ish am.) I couldn't get back to sleep, so I started looking at the rainfall amounts and the weather forecast.  I saw that we had a flood watch in effect and that A LOT of rain had fallen in Wimberley and Kyle.  I got up about 20 mins later to look again and the river had come up quite a bit. The water was at the bottom of where we had the boats so I woke up Dan.  He got dressed and pulled the boats up to the top of the hill.  It was still dark outside that that point, but the boys were awake so we started with our mo...

The Flood of 2013

Here is a video of the high point of the flood.  I have some pictures to upload but will do that later.
