9 Months

We have officially passed the 9 month mark of Dutch's life.  Here are some fun facts about our sweet little man.
  • Weight - 20lbs 5oz (50th percentile)
  • Length - 29in (75th percentile)
  • Head Circum. - 48.3cm (50th percentile)
  • Clothing Size - 12 Months
The end of month 8 left us with a sick little guy.   He got his first real fever (100.5) on Friday.  Sadly that was not all, he felt so sick on Friday too, it was really hard for us to see, we just wanted to make him better.  Luckily he did feel better on Saturday, but still had fever.  By Sunday night the fever was up to 101.8, good thing we already had an appointment for Tuesday morning.  Well, turns out his little cold left him with an infection in both ears :(  They are minor infections and had he been older we would have waited it out, but since he is a little guy he is on antibiotics.  He's doing well on them so hopefully we will be all clear soon.

Dutch loves to be on the move exploring new things, but he wants Mom or Dad to be close by at all times.  He knows when he is about to 'explore' something he is not supposed to because he will stop, hand hovering over the electrical oulet, and look at us like "I'm gonna do it."

Speaking of looks, he likes you to see him do fun things.  When he is playing with his spinning ball toy he will push the lever really hard and then look over excitedly for approval.  It is really sweet.  Of course after saying "Yay!" and clapping for about the hundreth time we usually try to move him to a new toy for our own sanity.

He has a game that he like to play with his blocks too.  Daddy will stack them up high and Dutch will hurry over to knock them down.  Then he looks like that should be wrong to do, but also so much fun.  After that it becomes a struggle for Dan to get blocks stacked before Dutch karate chops them down.

Dutch has fallen in love with one particular block...we refer to it as Orange Oval, because, well, it is an orange oval (hey I never said we were super creative).  We will bury Orange Oval under all the other blocks and he will calmly lift blocks out of the box one by one until he finds Orange Oval.  One day he had Orange Oval in his hand and Frog (his fave lovey) hanging from his mouth while he happily cruised around the room, I don't think he could have been any more content.

Dutch is big enough now that he knows when he wants something.  He will scream if you block his path, he will lean out for Mom or Dad to hold him, he will try to climb Mom's leg while she cooks, etc.

But, of all that he is doing Momma's favorite thing has got to be the hugs and kisses!  He will give a big squeeze and then a big slobbery kiss on the cheek (or chin or forehead or wherever he can land it).  Most of the time the kisses are like being licked and Dutch thinks it is HILARIOUS!  Daddy's face has stickers so he doesn't get the kisses, but he still gets the big hugs, which he cherishes more than anything.
